One step closer to purchase Doubleclick

Have been following the news of Google acquiring Doubleclick for a year after the Google announced the agreement in April. Yesterday FTC has approved the deal, and Google only need to take another step forward cashing that leading online ad management company - getting the clearance from European regulators, the European Commission, and the deadline to complete the review will be April 2 2008.

Google is the leading text-based ads seller and paid search is the biggest segment of the internet market. Display ads are the coming-up biggest segment, which is the DoubleClick's strength. A combine of such strong online ad players sparked criticism from Microsoft and many others. They say the deal would give Google too much control of the online ad market.

I am longing to see what EC will do for the review and the actions that Google's rivals (Microsoft, Yahoo....etc) will take to block the deal.
